Week of September 17-21

UNIQUE OF THE WEEK: KIEKIE

What we are Learning:
  • ELA - Reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio
  • ELA- Informative Writing
  • Math - Module 2  (Lessons 1-4) 
    • Multi-Digit Whole Number and Decimal Fraction Operations
    • Module 1 Test will go home on Monday. Students need to get it signed and make corrections on the provided MATH CORRECTION sheet.
  • Begin to work on LEND A HELPING HAND, Kiva Project.
    • If parents would like to sign up to be an "investor" for this special project, click HERE to sign up. Feel free to ask trusted relatives and friends to sign up to a part of this, as well!
  • Geography - Learning about the Southwest Region states and their capitals on a US map
  • Science: This week we continue our unit about Earth’s systems, specifically the hydrosphere and the Earth’s fresh water as a natural resource. 
  • Social Studies- Explorer Interactions (Explorer Brochure due 9/21)
  • Word Knowledge - Vocabulary from Wonder and Stem Word List #4 this week
    • Students are independently responsible for making sure the words they choose actually contain the STEM. 
  • Art - Keith Haring
  • Other - Kiva/ Investor Project

Tests this Week

  • Stem Word List #4 on Friday this week
  • Southwest States and Capital Quiz on Friday

Other News

  • Please send in stamped, blank California postcards
  • Apparel orders were due Friday, 9/14! Send in by Tuesday, 9/18 so you don't miss out
    • We have sample sizes for your child to try on, if you would like
  • Pali Camp commitment form and donations by 9/19 to POWW box in the office
  • There is no school on Wednesday, September 19th
