More Passion in Room 20!

We had a visit from our second "passion speaker" today!

Hailey inspired us with her message that hard work, openess to change, and the understanding that failure is part of the process, are what lead to success!

Starting right here at Welby Way, Hailey's passions developed and changed over the years, but always involved helping others. She attended college at UCLA and, although she played basketball and softball throughout high school, she chose to follow her other interests in college. During her junior year, she studied abroad in Ghana and found what she called her "true passion!" She wanted to close the gaps of inequality in education. She applied for Teach for America, but was turned down. Although she was upset when it happened, she now sees it as the event that pointed her in the right direction. She applied to the Peace Corps, was accepted and just returned from 27 months in the very small town of Bele, Ethiopia. She was moved by the experience and the people, who made as big of a difference in her life as she made in theirs! Her next venture is graduate school, either in Washington, D.C. or New York to work toward her Masters in International Education!

We certainly were all inspired by Hailey today!

Ryon Healy Shares His Passion!

We had a visit from our first "passion speaker" today!
Ryon Healy inspired us with his message that hard word, a positive growth mindset, and the understanding that failure is part of the process, are what lead to success!
Starting right here at Welby Way and playing for Westhills Baseball, Ryon worked his way up playing baseball for, and graduating from, the University of Oregon. He was drafted by the Oakland As in June of 2013, played for the AA team, Midland RockHounds this last season where he was twice chosen as "Player of the Week," and also selected for the mid-season All-Star team!
We certainly were all inspired by Ryon today!

Hang on to those signed baseball cards!!
