We did things a little
different this week. We broke into three groups and began rotations for
Language Arts. Mrs. Gallo teaches writing, Mrs. King teaches vocabulary,
phonics, and spelling, and Mrs. Slezinger teaches comprehension. It
went pretty well for the first week and everyone seemed to enjoy it!
In Language Arts, we worked on determining the problem and solution in a narrative. We read Johanna in Jamaica and Night of San Juan and wrote excellent summaries about those stories. Everyone was pretty proud of themselves!Ask us to explain SWBST!
Next week we will revisit Making Inferences, adding on how to analyze those inferences.
In Math, we are studying division. We spent some time understanding compatible numbers and I do believe everybody "GETS" it now! Next week we will continue in depth on division using very large numbers! Remember to have patience and use that sideways lined paper!

In Science, we changed the variable of string length in our Pendulum (Swinger) conrolled experiment and found that it did make a difference! We used the data from our Pendulum Experiment to design a Picture Graph and found some interesting patterns! Next week, we will learn about independent and dependent variables and how to plot data in a coordinate grid. We will have a test on Thursday!
In art, we learned about texture and line drawing, using white crayon and black water color to create crayon resist.
We have finally finalized THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH OF THE ROOM 28 GOVERNMENT. Click here to see it! Executive Branch jobs
