Recipe For Success

The first day in Room 20 was fabulous! We tried to play a game with no rules, then too many rules, and finally with just specific rules. Ask us which one worked the best!

We also talked about the important things we need to be successful in 4th grade! Below are some pictures from the activity today that will lead to conversation about what our "Recipe for Success" is all about!

2013 2014 Supply List

In 4th grade we stress preparation and organization. In order to start the school year off right, we are asking you to donate the following supplemental items for your child. Please provide quality items as they need to last all year. Label your child’s name on his/her items and bring them to school during the first week! Thank you!

For the Student

 Pencil Pouch with a zipper (no pencil boxes)

 Colored Pencils (Crayola© is a great choice - at least 24 count)

 Colored Thin markers (at least a 10 count)

 Highlighter

 White eraser (Staedtler© is the best!)

 White board markers and an eraser (an old sock will do)

 2 Single Subject Spiral Notebooks (wide ruled - at least 100 pages each)

 3 Composition Notebooks

 Kid-friendly Scissors

 Ruler

 Pencil sharpener (one that holds its shavings)

 1 pack of pencils (please NO mechanical pencils)

 2 ultra thin fine BLACK Sharpies

 2 fine BLACK Sharpies

 Glue sticks (at least 6)

 Flash Drive

 1 Pocket Folder for Homework (The design and color can be your choice,

but make it extra sturdy and please NO Binders!)

 Backpack (Please do not bring rolling backpacks as we have very limited

closet space to accommodate them.)

 5 plastic or heavy duty (not paper) pocket folders (no prongs) in the

following colors: yellow, purple, red, blue, and green

 Optional: 4 large book covers - students will be asked to cover their

textbooks during the first weeks of school

For the Class

Although the school district will provide us with some basic supplies, it is simply not enough to get through the year. These items are for

the classroom and will be shared by all students. DO NOT label your child’s name on these items. Thank you so much!

 1 box of tissues

 1 container or package of baby wipes

 1 packet or ream of white printer/copy paper

Ending an Amazing Year!

It is unbelievable that we only have 7 days left of elementary school!

This year has flown by and it has been a pleasure to watch the students grow and thrive. 

They are ready for middle school, even if some of the parents are not...

A few dates to note:

Tuesday, June 4 from 2-5PM- 5th Grade Party

Wednesday, June 5 at 8:15 AM- 5th Grade Softball Game

Thursday, June 6 at 10:10 AM- 5th Grade Culmination

(Recommended dress is nice casual)

Friday, June 7 is a minimum day with dismissal at 12:30

Please respond to the Room Parent email to sign up to bring items for a potluck

Fitness Week and Beyond!

Fitness Week is coming to an end! What a week it has been. Between yoga, karate, boot camp, sit-ups, hula hoops and eating a rainbow, room 28 has stepped up to the plate this week and we have a lot of points! Our Walk-a-Thon this morning was a huge success as we walked for 40 minutes sporting our fabulous headbands thanks to Mrs. Walker. Big thanks also to Ms. McCauley, Mr. and Mrs. Levy, and Mrs. Strauss for cheering us on and marking our cards!

Please send in your EATING A RAINBOW sheet and your pledge drive sheet TOMORROW so we can build up those points while supporting our school!

One Day Without Shoes

We spent the day educating the students of our school on the importance of being global thinkers!

This Tuesday, April 16th is ONE DAY WITHOUT SHOES

We will create a simulation for our schoolmates to experience as a way to educate them about the need for shoes. They will get to experience what it is like to spend a few minutes without shoes, as they walk on uncomfortable substances in a "Barefoot Walking Path." They will be able to put their shoes back on, hopefully with the realization that others are not as lucky!

The goal is to make them, and you, realize that you have the potential and the power to make a difference in this world!
